Bajaj Chetak electric scooter has crossed the 1 lakh sales mark in the Indian market. According to Society of Indian Automobile Manufacturers (SIAM) data, Bajaj Chetak Electric, launched in January 2020, has sold 1.04 lakh units in the 47 months till November 2023.
Out of these, about 60 percent units have been sold in 8 months of the current financial year. 62,991 units have been sold between April-November, compared to 23,160 units during the same period last year.
Bajaj is just 5,229 units behind Ather Energy in terms of wholesales in the current financial year, which is the third largest electric two-wheeler manufacturer after Ola Electric and TVS Motor.
According to retail sales data, Bajaj has sold more Chetaks than Ather Energy’s electric scooters in the last 2 months.
In November, Bajaj had achieved its highest ever monthly sales of Chetak with 11,668 units.
Company is planning to increase the production of Bajaj Chetak
Bajaj is expanding its network of exclusive showrooms for Chetak along with increasing production. Currently Bajaj Chetak showrooms are present in 141 cities, which are planned to be expanded to 250 cities by March 2024.
Bajaj Chetak comes with a 2.9kWh battery, which gives a range of 108 kilometers on a single charge. Recently the company has launched Chetak Urban with 2.9kWh battery, which is priced at Rs 1.15 lakh (ex-showroom).
