Indiaβs leading car maker Mahindra and Mahindra on Thursday announced that they have received an order of 1850 units of Mahindra Scorpio Classic from Indian Army.
The Army placed an order of 1470 units of Mahindra Scorpio Classic back in January this year. Scorpio Classic is the updated version of Scorpio SUV. The company also sells the new Scorpio which was launched last year.

Why new Mahindra Scorpio Classic will be different?
The Scorpio which will be used by Indian Army got Army green paint . It is expected that the company will equip the Scorpio Classic with 4X4 powertrain. It also gets 2.2-litre engine that used to produce around 140hp power.
The current model of Scorpio use 2.2-litre diesel engine which generates 130hp and 300Nm torque and It has a rear wheels only using 6-speed gearbox . There is no automatic transmission or a 4X4 powertrain in it.
Mahindra Scorpio Classic: look
Mahindra Scorpio Classic has a muscular hood with air scoop, vertically-slatted chrome grille with βTwin Peaksβ logo, projector headlights with eyebrow-like daytime running lights (DRL), bumper-mounted fog lights and has large air dam.
It has a roof rails, ORVMs, flared wheel arches and 17-inch dual-tone alloy wheels are also available on the sides of the SUV.
At the rear, it also gets vertically-stacked taillights and a roof mounted spoiler, which make it more sportier.
Scorpio Classic gets 7-seater cabin
Two types of seat options have been made available in Scorpio Classic. One, like the Scorpio-N, there is a captain seat in the second row and front facing seats for three passengers at the rear.
The second option gets the same seven-seat arrangement as the old model (two side seats in the third row).
Significantly, Mahindra has given front facing seats in the third row to increase the safety rating of the new Scorpio-N.
Scorpio Classic price
The price of the base nine-seater S variant of the Mahindra Scorpio Classic starts at Rs 12.64 lakh. Its range-topping seven-seater S11 trim has been priced at Rs 16.14 lakh (all prices, ex-showroom).
