The countryβs largest carmaker Maruti Suzuki is working on a premium 7-seater SUV. This vehicle can be introduced by 2025 with the codename Y17.
Considering the success of Maruti Suzuki Grand Vitara in the Indian market, the company will launch it between Grand Vitara and Maruti Invicto. It is a lower priced model than the Invicto and will compete with the Tata Safari, Mahindra XUV700 and the Hyundai Alcazar.
The design of Marutiβs upcoming 7-seater SUV will be similar to the Maruti Suzuki Invicto. Its cabin will come with a premium look, which will include a new SmartPlay touchscreen infotainment system, digital instrument console.
Along with this, the latest car will come with features like automatic climate control, ventilated seats, steering-mounted controls and a large sunroof.
According to the report, Marutiβs 7-seater SUV will be built on Suzukiβs Global C platform, just like the Grand Vitara. Powertrain options are also expected to be similar. It will come with a 1.5-litre, strong-hybrid petrol engine (115bhp) and a 1.5-litre, mild-hybrid petrol engine (103bhp). It is expected to be manufactured at the new Kharkhoda plant in Haryana.
Its starting price can be kept more than Grand Vitara (Rs 10.7 lakh) and less than Invicto (Rs 24.82 lakh).
