German automobile company Volkswagen is currently developing its new hatchback, the Volkswagen Golf GTI. Recently, this vehicle has been spotted during testing on the roads in India, with pictures circulating online showcasing it in a light grey color.
This model is already available for sale in international markets, and now the company plans to launch it in India through the Completely Built Unit (CBU) route. According to reports, Volkswagen is set to introduce this hatchback in the upcoming months.

Let’s discuss the design of the Volkswagen Golf GTI. It bears a striking resemblance to the Volkswagen Polo, boasting a premium aesthetic. According to the company’s website, this model is touted as the world’s best hatchback. The Golf GTI will be available in four distinct color options: Grenadilla Black Metallic, Oryx White Premium Mother-of-Pearl, Moonstone Grey, and Kings Red Premium Metallic.
This hatchback features a muscular bonnet, LED headlamps, LED tail lamps, and LED daytime running lights (DRLs) at the front, all seamlessly connected with the front lights. It has a blacked-out front grille that prominently displays the Volkswagen logo, along with blacked-out B and C pillars, 18-inch diamond-cut alloy wheels, electrically adjustable outside rearview mirrors (ORVMs), and the GTI badge just behind the ORVMs. At the rear, the Golf GTI showcases a shark fin antenna, a rear spoiler, and a blacked-out rear windscreen.
It also features C-shaped LED tail lamps, dual exhaust tips, GTI badging at the center, and a blacked-out bumper. In terms of dimensions, this hatchback measures 4,287 mm in length, 1,789 mm in width, and 1,478 mm in height, with a wheelbase of 2,631 mm and a ground clearance of 119 mm.
Powertrain of Volkswagen Golf GTI
The Volkswagen Golf GTI is equipped with a 2.0-liter turbocharged petrol engine, which delivers a maximum power output of 260 bhp and a peak torque of 370 Nm. For transmission, this engine is paired with either a 7-speed dual-clutch transmission (DCT manual) or a DSG (Direct-Shift Gearbox automatic). The company may also offer an option for a 1.8-liter TSI petrol engine.
In terms of performance, this hatchback boasts a top speed of 250 km/h and can accelerate from 0 to 100 km/h in just 5.9 seconds. This acceleration time surpasses that of the Volkswagen Tiguan R-Line, which can achieve the same speed in 7.1 seconds.

Volkswagen Golf GTI : Cabin
The Volkswagen Golf GTI features a 5-seater cabin designed for comfort and style. It has an all-black dashboard, sporty 3-spoke steering wheel with mounted controls, and black seats with red accents. The front dashboard includes AC vents for efficient cooling.
This model is equipped with a 10.25-inch digital driver display and a floating 12.25-inch infotainment screen that supports Android Auto and Apple CarPlay connectivity. Additional features include a wireless charging port, side control buttons on the doors, and the optional head-up display (HUD), which projects essential driving information such as speed and navigation directions onto the windshield.

We anticipate that the company may introduce this hatchback at a starting price of approximately Rs 50-52 lakh (ex-showroom). The Golf GTI will compete with models such as the Ford Focus ST, Hyundai i30 N, Honda Civic Type R, and Renault Megane RS.
